Apple Sausage Rolls


This crowd-pleasing app is like pigs in blankets but filled with a quick homemade sausage instead of franks. They’ll be a total knockout for game day. (Have we mentioned they’ll also make your kitchen smell amazing?). Dunk them in apple butter mustard for a *chef’s kiss* moment worth savoring.

  • 2 tsp.

    freshly grated nutmeg

  • 2 tsp.

    fennel seeds, lightly crushed

  • Kosher salt and pepper

  • 1 lb.

    ground pork

  • 1

    clove garlic, grated

  • 1/4 c.

    flat-leaf parsley leaves, chopped

  • 4

    sage leaves, chopped

  • 2 tsp.

    fresh thyme leaves

  • 1/2 c.


  • 1

    small Gala apple, peeled and coarsely grated (about 2/3 c.)

  • All-purpose flour, for dusting

  • 1

    14-oz pkg. puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed in fridge

  • 1

    large egg, beaten

  • 1/4 c.

    apple butter

  • 3 tbsp.

    Dijon mustard


    Air fryer directions: Heat air fryer to 350°F. Line air fryer basket with parchment paper and cook sausage rolls, in batches, 6 minutes. Remove parchment paper and continue air-frying until sausage is cooked through and pastry is golden, 6 minutes.

Dunk sausage rolls into a sweet-savory sauce: Combine 1/4 cup apple butter and 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard. So simple!
