How to Turn Your Garden into a Winter Wonderland

One of the best ways to get into the spirit of Christmas is to turn your outside space into a winter wonderland. It may seem like hard work, but with just a little effort, you can create a garden that looks like it is plucked straight out of Narnia.

Twinkly Lights

Use lights to make your wintery garden shine. Place fairy lights around the trees, lanterns up stone steps, and tealights on tables. When it comes to the garden, you can be as creative as you like with the placement of your lights! Use a wide variety so that when dusk approaches, your garden will turn into a magical haven that comes alive with twinkly lights.

A Spectacle of Water

If you have a pond or a pool, then make it come to life by going to to find a water feature. The result will be a gorgeous spectacle of flowing water that is sure to catch the attention of anyone passing by. In combination with the surrounding wintery décor, your house will look good enough for Santa Claus to call home!

Bring Warmth to the Seating Area

There’s no better way of appreciating a wintery scene than basking in warmth while you do so. Create a cozy, warm area for people to sit, including a fire pit, cushions, and plenty of blankets. It’ll make the perfect place to roast marshmallows while you enjoy the magical scenery surrounding you.

Stepping Stones

Stepping stones are a simple feature that instantly gives a garden a fairy-tale look. Wind them through your garden, and make it even more magical by placing winter-fairy statues at the end of each path!

Winter Plants

Just because it is winter doesn’t mean your garden can’t have a pop of color. Plant shrubs and flowers that blossom in the colder months, like holly trees, honeysuckle, and snowdrops. With the addition of natural beauty, your winter wonderland will come together beautifully.

Attract Wildlife

Another great natural addition to your wonderland is natural wildlife. Place bird-feeders and scatter nuts and seeds around the place to bring squirrels and robins straight to your home. After all, what’s a winter wonderland without a touch of Disney Princess magic?

Use Little Christmas Decorations

When it comes to creating a magical space, the key is to use plenty of small items. Wander around your garden and place little decorations in all the nooks and crannies so that each subsequent walk around results in finding something new. You could have a reindeer peeking from around a bush, a wreath hanging above the back door, and a bunch of mistletoe descending from the tree.

Place Signs Around

To make the garden feel enticing and magical, place wooden signs around the place, pointing to different areas. For example, one could read ‘Elf Corner’, and another ‘Ten Yards to the Reindeer Sleigh’.

When it comes to creating a winter wonderland, it’s all about being as creative as you can. So, get your winter coat on, go into your garden, and start creating a wonderland that will spark magic in the minds of both the young and the old.
